What is Somatic Relational Therapy?
Traditional Psychotherapy, which has been around for over 120 years, generally examines patterns of thought and proposes a reframe to change those patterns with the idea that this repatterning will help patients. Over the last 40 years, thanks to the pioneering work of therapists like Bessel van der Kolk, Dick Schwartz, Peter Levine, Stephen Porges and Mariah Moser, among many others, we now know that trauma is held in the nervous system, and that in order to integrate these harmful events in our lives we need to not just address the mind, but the whole body. At the somatic relational integration center we use cutting edge techniques built on decades of research to bring you tools to help move through some of your past experiences, whether you are consciously aware of them or not.

When we slow down and move into awareness of our body, our emotions and the present moment we become aware of charges in our body that we can then resolve together. We now know that every person has, at their core, a fully integrated beautiful being that is at times obscured by other parts of themselves that were created as a result of adverse events in the past. With somatic relational therapy we get to know these parts, revisit them with our support in a safe, therapeutic environment and learn to integrate these parts back into our "SELF". These parts, that have served us by keeping us safe in the past, can now be reassigned to do other jobs that help, rather than hinder our current condition. Throughout this process we can help process shame, guilt, shock, rage, grief, sadness and all other emotions that come up.
Somatic Relational Therapy is paradigm shifting work that is slowly revolutionizing mental health. It has been known to resolve:
Depression
Anxiety
Dissociation
PTSD
Complex PTSD
Obsessive thinking
ADHD
Fear/Paranoia
Autoimmune diseases
Muscular holding patterns
Irritable bowels
Allergies
